Holliston Drug and Alcohol Awareness Coalition (HDAAC) is sponsoring “Moving Forward with Hope,” a virtual prayer service for recovery from addiction. Planned for November 19, at 7PM, the virtual event features Dr. Thomas Kimball, a guest speaker from the Collegiate Recovery Communities, followed by the interfaith prayer service.
Washington Street (Rt 16) will be closed starting Monday, November 16th.
The Thursday evening remote meeting of the Governance Committee (GC) was called to order by Chair Sam Tyler at 5 PM, for the purpose of viewing and discussing revisions and annotations each had made to Article I of the Holliston By-Laws and a proposed Article concerning the Budget Development Process. Town Administrator Travis Ahern sat in on the meeting.

Celebrate Holliston’s Board of Directors are pleased to announce the winners of “Celebrate Holliston’s Heroes”. Due to the pandemic and the cancellation of field day, the CH Board decided that there are “hidden heroes” who helped the town during this health crisis that should be recognized.

This week we passed a sobering threshold in our experience with the COVID-19 pandemic: there have been over 10,000 confirmed deaths of Massachusetts residents due to COVID-19. Each of these deaths is not a statistic; it is a life-altering loss for a family and a community forced to grapple with grief in extraordinary and often isolating circumstances.
During October 2020, 28 properties transferred ownership. Here are the first 14. The remainder and the year to year comparison will be published on Friday, November 27th.

Holliston: 173 (+17 from last week)
For the past several years, Holliston has observed the Veterans Day holiday with a public ceremony and veterans’ luncheon. The luncheon has traditionally been sponsored by Holliston’s American Legion, VFW and Lions. While the pandemic cancelled the public portion of the observance, the sponsors made sure our Holliston veterans were remembered with a delicious meal.

Scouts from Holliston’s Troop 14 will be collecting non-perishable items for donation to the Holliston Pantry Shelf. The drive is Saturday, November 14th.
