Rail Trail Cleanup by LEOs

Holliston Reporter

The Holliston Lions Club sponsors the Holliston High School LEO Club. Mentored by Ed Daniels and Steve Hedrick, the LEO members develop leadership skills and positive character traits that prepare them for community outreach. LEO stands for Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity:  worthy traits to work on at any age.

On March 11th, fifteen LEO members conducted a litter cleanup along the Holliston Rail Trail. Although litter is not a major problem, the melting winter snow revealed the need to tidy up. The students’ efforts filled several large yellow bags with trash.  Holliston Department of Public Works coordinated with the LEOs and picked up the bags for disposal the next day.

The LEOs uphold the LIONS motto “We Serve.” This project is one of many ways they have found to make a difference.  Among other areas LEOs contribute include the Food Pantry, Celebrate Holliston, Holliston in Bloom, veterans’ lunches and vision screening at the Lions’ Eyemobile.
