Susan Schnapp

Susan Jo Schnapp, 78, of Holliston, passed away after an 8-year battle with pancreatic cancer and a 16-year battle with bladder cancer on Thursday, July 9, 2026. Born in Dayton, Ohio, she was the only child of the late William and Tunie (Keiser) Hiehle. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Carl W. Schnapp, and their infant daughter, Amy Marie.

Susan was raised in Miamisburg, Ohio. She graduated from Miamisburg High School in 1965 and from Otterbein College (now University) in 1969 with a BA in Education. She taught first grade in Westerville, Ohio. She and Carl married in 1973 and moved to Holliston, Massachusetts, in 1980, where they continued to raise their family. Susan worked in the Holliston school system for 11 years as a special education paraprofessional and tutor.

Spending time with loved ones was her favorite thing in the world. Family trips were a highlight. Throughout her life, she traveled extensively in Europe and the United States with family and friends. She loved live music and attended dozens of concerts over the years with Carl. She cherished her time with her daughters and grandchildren, and she loved going out to lunch and visiting with her dear friends.

Susan was a long-time active member of her community. She volunteered at the Holliston Food Pantry for 18 years. Susan loved to read and was a member of two book clubs: The Dynamic Readers and the Balancing Rock Book Club. With St. Mary’s Church, she participated in Child Study in the 80s and was a member of WINGS, a women’s group. Additionally, she and Carl participated for many years with their Pre-Cana program. Susan and Carl also belonged to the Mystery Club of Holliston for many years.

Susan is survived by her daughters, Theresa Anne Howell and her husband, Brian, of Evergreen, Colorado, and Emily Suzanne Kevork and her husband, Alex, of Medway; her grandchildren, Ella and Sylvia Howell and Zara and Briggs Kevork; her sister-in-law, Karen Schnapp, whose husband, Jim, predeceased her; her nephew, Tony Schnapp; her niece, Andrea Stotler; and many close friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 13th, from 4:00 to 7:00 at Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston, 854 Washington St. www.ChesmoreFuenralHome.com A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 14th, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church of Holliston.
