From Sheri O’Brien
Very early on Thanksgiving morning, we had a tremendous outpouring of volunteer effort providing food and supplies, assembling Thanksgiving meals for seniors, setting-up/cleaning-up, and meal delivery. We can’t thank all of the people and families enough who volunteered their time and effort. Eight-year-old, Strummer Keith, even decided to do his own service project and baked 100 cookies in order to provide two extra cookies with each meal.
Helping to organize this event from the Senior Center were Marty Schneier/Outreach Coordinator and Linda Marshall,Director. HNN greatly appreciates your assistance.
We are also very indebted to the Holliston Freemasons and David Hill for providing the use of the Mt. Hollis Lodge and assisting with ALL of the little details – especially the clean-up, the Holiday Dreams Foundation (Jonathan & Leslie Gerber) for donating the turkeys, the Muffin House Cafe/Medway, Starbucks/Milford, Holliston Superette, and the Holliston Community Children’s Center.
Thank you to the many Girl Scouts of Holliston for creating the wonderful Thanksgiving Cards that we were able to provide with each meal. In addition, we shouldn’t forget all of the people that helped fill in the gaps, such as providing munchies for the workers on Thursday morning and accepting the delivery of food on Wednesday at Mt. Hollis Lodge.
George Healey even drove all the way from Florida to help us carve seven turkeys, as he is a master carver and a retired meat cutter!
Thank you to everyone who offered to volunteer and please don’t forget that HNN will need volunteers to help assemble Easter Baskets in the spring. (In fact, HNN is looking for a Chair for the Easter Baskets committee – hint, hint :-))
Lastly, the Holliston Lions Club will be coordinating the CHRISTMAS Meals for Seniors. To sign-up to help with the Christmas Meals please go to the following link: https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/3043445/true#/invitation
