As one of a group of senior citizens who were the guests of the Holliston High School National Honor Society students for a dinner they had prepared for us at the high school cafeteria prior to free attendance at an electrifying dress rehearsal of Carrie, the Musical, in the school auditorium, I wanted to share my impression of what a great bunch of kids we have here in town. This event has become an annual tradition which I have attended several times and the genuine affection and courtesy these young adults lavish on their elders is truly heartwarming.
A week earlier I had attended the Veterans Day lunch at town hall and we got similar treatment from the Leos, the youth auxiliary of the Lions Club. Studies have shown these types of intergenerational events contribute to the quality of life and vitality of a community and should be celebrated and encouraged.
After a grinding and divisive election it is refreshing to know that the future can be brighter in their hands. I say hooray for us, our schools and institutions for turning out such a fine crop of kids we can be proud of sending out into the world.
