From Barbara Gardner
The Holliston Garden Club and the Friends of Trees have been advocating for Holliston to become a Tree City USA since August of last year. The Select Board has agreed to submit an application to become a Tree City USA. Part of this program’s requirements include adopting a by-law that protects trees in the community.
Article 29 of this year’s Annual Town Meeting Warrant addresses that requirement by seeking the adoption of a Tree Protection and Preservation By-Law. The by-law builds a basic framework for regulating public shade trees within our street network as well as other trees under the jurisdiction of the Tree Warden and the Planning Board under existing state laws.
Residents may view the by-law online at -> http://wwwtownofholliston.us/sites/g/files/vyhlif706/f/uploads/may2023atmwarrantfinal-signed.pdf
The Annual Town Meeting will be held on Monday, May 15 at 7:00 PM in the High School auditorium. Only registered voters can vote at Town Meeting.
Please show your support for both becoming a Tree City USA and for protecting and preserving our trees by attending and voting for Article 29 at Holliston’s upcoming Annual Town Meeting.
