A quorum was quickly assembled online for a remote meeting of the Library Trustees on Tuesday evening at 7, and was called to order by Chair Nancy Baron. Following the approval of the September 2 meeting minutes, the Trustees greeted Library Director, Leslie McDonnell, who presented the Director’s Report.

Governance Committee Meets with Town Administrator
The Governance Committee (GC) met remotely Thursday afternoon, 4PM, in an open meeting when they conversed with Town Administrator (TA), Travis Ahern, in another information-gathering session. Chair Sam Tyler reviewed the direction of the Committee’s work with Ahern prior to eliciting his knowledge of Holliston’s Finance and Fiscal Procedures.
Perkins Joins Senior Center as Assistant Director
Bryan Perkins joins the Senior Center as Assistant Director in September with the departure of Linda Sottile, whose move to South Carolina to enjoy her grandkids left a vacancy in the Center’s staff. But Perkins has the drive, experience and enthusiasm to assume the challenging role.

Governance Committee Continues Research with School Committee
Thursday evening, following its Executive Session, the School Committee (SC) reconvened and shared almost an hour of its meeting time with the Governance Committee (GC). Sam Tyler, GC Chair, called the remote session to order at 7:13 PM and reviewed the purpose of this visit.

Chair Jennifer Lieberman called the remote meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee to order remotely at 7:08 PM Monday evening with a crowded Zoom screen revealing several new faces.
Back to School with the Superintendent
Dr. Susan Kustka, Interim Superintendent of Holliston Public Schools (HPS) since the July 1st departure of Dr. Brad Jackson, talked to us recently about the September 16th reopening of schools, during the COVID 19 pandemic. Throughout our conversation, her care about students and interest in providing them the best in education became clear.

School Committee Updated on Status of Back to School Plans
Following Executive Session, School Committee Chair Stacey Raffi reconvened the remote open meeting of the Committee to order at 8:21 PM. Dr. Susan Kustka reviewed and explained updates to the School Reopening Plan.
Governance Committee Interviews Finance Team
In a late afternoon meeting on Tuesday, the Governance Committee (GC) interviewed Holliston’s Finance Team – Sharon Emerick, Accountant, Kathryn Peirce, Principal Assessor, and Mary Bousquet, Treasurer-Collector, with an assist from Tyler Ahern, Town Administrator, to learn more about the town’s Finance and Fiscal Procedures.
School Committee Reviews Athletics and Other Back to School Issues
The School Committee met Thursday evening in both an Executive Session (7:00 PM) for the purpose of Impact Bargaining Strategy with the Holliston Federation of Teachers and an Open Session (begun at 7:40PM) to review the School Reopening Plan and an Athletics Update.
