Library Trustees Discuss Hours, Policies, and Activities
Library Trustees Chair Karla Alfred opened the September 7, 2022, Zoom meeting on the 7th at 7 PM.
Holliston Receives Drug Free Communities Grant of $625,000
The Holliston Drug and Alcohol Awareness coalition (HDAAC) led by co-chairs Eva Stahl and Karen Jewett and overseen by Jackie Winer of Holliston Youth and Family Services was awarded a $625,000 grant from the Drug Free Community (DFC) program. Holliston is one of only nine communities awarded the grant in Massachusetts in 2022

Select Board Advances Tax Increment Financing Plan to Town Meeting
The Holliston Select Board met on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, with Chair Ben Sparrell calling the meeting to order at just past 7:00pm to tackle what he described as an “interesting agenda.”

Holliston Schools Participate in National School Lunch Program
Holliston Public Schools will be participating in the National School Lunch Program. As part of this program, Holliston Public Schools will offer healthy meals every school day. The Massachusetts legislature has provided funding to make meals available at no cost to all students during school year 2022-2023, regardless of household income. However, families should still complete a Meal Benefit Application as this provides data for key funding for academic resources and may also connect families to additional benefits. This data will also support the additional funds provided by the Commonwealth for this pilot.
State Primary Election: Holliston Unofficial Results
Town Clerk Liz Greendale has shared these unofficial results for the Town of Holliston. The district and state-wide results will be released separately.
The Town Clerk will certify the results as official at a later date.
Senate President Karen Spilka’s Health and Wellness Fair to Serve Active Seniors and Their Families
State Senate President Karen E. Spilka’s annual health and wellness fair returns to an in-person format with a revised name, a broadened focus that includes active older adults, a streamlined registration process, and an invitation for younger generations to accompany older family members to the event slated for October 22, 2022.

A short but busy week in Holliston. Monday’s holiday postpones Trash pickup one day all week.
The Select Board meets on Wednesday and will deliberate on a Tax Increment Financing plan for New England Appliance Group.
Senior Center Fall Fair and other September Events
It’s time for the Annual Senior Center Fall Fair on Saturday Sept. 10th from 9-3.
Also, several other activities are on tap for the month – some new, some old.
A survey for Holliston’s seniors will be arriving in the mail soon. Be sure to get your input in before October 14th.
