The Holliston School Committee met on Thursday, February 13th, 2025 in the Holliston High
School Library to discuss:
● Superintendent updates on the FY26 budget proposal
● Changes to student health and allergy policies
● Feasibility of a 2025-2026 HHS schedule change
● Discussion of changes to grade 8 math courses
● 2025-2026 HPS calendar

After an executive session, the meeting began with updates from the student representatives on
the athletic Senior Nights and fundraisers for the Class of 2025. Amanda Rivera (HHS teacher),
Jaime Cutone (HHS teacher and HFT President), and Tracy Floeckher (parent) shared public
comments on changes to the high school schedule (see minutes 18:38 and 29:00 and 37:05).
Amanda Bigelow (parent and former HSC member) and Anne Connoni (HHS teacher) provided
comments on the proposed changes to middle school math courses (see minutes 23:55 and
32:40).
Following public, student, and school committee comments, Superintendent Kustka shared the
proposed FY26 budget. This presentation included a comparison of per pupil spending with
neighboring towns, the anticipated changes for FY26, and the superintendent’s
recommendations for additional staff to support student needs (minute 41:30).
The School Committee voted to rescind three policies related to allergies and student health
based on the guidance of the district’s Nurse Manager, as they are currently addressed under
other district policies. The SC also voted to revise the Immunization of Students policy to align
with MASC language (minute 1:03:10).
Principal David List provided an update on the feasibility of a schedule change to Holliston High
School for 2025-2026 (minute 1:10:30). This schedule would mirror the current block HHS
schedule, but allow for yearlong courses with an A/B day rotation.
Following updates from central office and subcommittees, Dr. Kustka and Dr. Menard shared an
update on the proposed changes to the grade 8 math course of studies from the math study
group (minute 01:48:38).
The meeting ended with a review of the proposed 2025-2026 district calendar (minute 2:44:01),
and the first day of school for students as August 26, 2025. The HSC appointed Joan
Shaughnessy as HSC representative to the Town’s Policy Advisory Committee, and reviewed a
HSC-Select Board Joint Letter to our state representative (minute 2:50:30).
