COVID-19: December 9, 2020 Update from Representative Dykema
Too often these newsletters contain sobering, but necessary updates about the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, I have good news to report today.
This morning, the Governor announced the first planned rollout for the acquisition and distribution of a COVID-19 vaccine. The Commonwealth has already requested 59,475 doses of vaccine from the federal government and expects to receive 300,000 total by the end of December.

As you have likely seen in these newsletters, most our key public health metrics are trending in the wrong direction in recent weeks. Our positive case numbers are up 193% in the last 30 days, and our hospitalization numbers are up 177%. Our positive test rate is up from 2.3% a month ago to 5.8% today.
Library Trustees Conduct Special Meeting
The Library Trustees met with Library Director Leslie McDonnell during a brief special meeting on Monday evening at 7 PM to vote on a possible pause of in-person visits to the building.

Today, the administration announced that it was expanding the availability of free COVID-19 testing across the Commonwealth, increasing access to testing sites in areas with a high incidence of COVID-19.

Library Trustees Gather for Short December Remote Meeting
The Wednesday evening remote meeting of the Library Trustees was opened by Chair Nancy Baron at 7 PM, with all Trustees present. Minutes from the November meeting were approved, and then Baron turned to Leslie McDonnell, Library Director, for her monthly report.
