A fairly full house of participants joined the Monday, March 14, 2022, Select Board – either in the conference room or online. Chair Tina Hein called the meeting to order at 7:00pm.

Establishing Inclusive, Safe, and Supportive Holliston Public Schools
For Parents and non-parents alike, our schools are a bedrock of our community. Ensuring that all children feel safe and supported in our schools supports their mental health, which in turn makes them more available for learning. This event is for all community members to come together and discuss how social and emotional learning and equity and inclusion are key components to maintain a mentally healthy student body.
Vigil for Peace in Ukraine
About 100 people of all ages turned out on the First Congregational Church Green to stand in support of the citizens of Ukraine. The cold blustery day did not diminish the spirit of solidarity with those suffering from the ravages of war.

Corned Beef & Cabbage on Thursday Is It?
Holliston is very Irish when it comes to ethnicity. While Boston is considered an Irish enclave, it is really the communities along the South Shore that are highly Irish populated. Places like Scituate come in at 42%. Holliston is one quarter Irish at 25.8% followed by the English 15.5% and the Italians at 15.1%. While the town’s Mudville neighborhood can claim early Irish history, that is not the case anymore. Many of the town’s population with Irish roots are scattered around town.

Janice Rita (Long) Caldwell, 87, of Franklin, formerly of Holliston died March 9 at the Accent Care Hospice in Milton following a brief illness.

Civics Sunday: Degan Throws Hat into Ring
When Connor Degan heard of Rep. Carolyn Dykema’s unexpected resignation from the House of Representatives, he shot home to ask his wife Julia if he should run. If not now, then when. At age 29, Degan has his sights set on the newly formed 8th Middlesex District which includes Hopkinton, Holliston, Sherborn, and Precincts 2 and 3 of Millis.
